Pyra Voss a girl living in a fictional village and becoming an officer in the military of her kingdoms government. Taking her dead brother, Jay’s place. Her job is still flexible because she can train when she wants and can still live in her house and live a normal life outside of her training and meetings. She meets the chief of the military named Trip who is only a couple years older. And happens to have been her brothers best friend. They eventually meet each other and even though they have sarcastic banter they do get along. They have a long slow burn romance that takes a while to develop. The man in charge of all these missions and oversees the council and military’s named Commander Byron. He is an encouraging figure for Pyra and is the one who asked her to take her brothers place. Pyra struggles internally with losing her brother and doesn’t know how to handle having to try and fill his shoes. (Her parents aren’t in the story) (she had her own small house) They are training for a while so they can eventually go on an undercover mission from their nation Zaris into the sibling nation of Fordum on their own in order to gain information on the other kingdom. The mission is small with only ten people who are all very different with very unique personalities and specialities. Pyra- main character who struggles with the loss of her brother while also trying to manage living her life and becoming part of the next mission. She is very closed off but her emotions are very loud inside. She is determined to prove herself wrong and fill her brothers shoes even when that isn’t the point. Trip- chief of the military and is in charge of the mission. He is a very friendly and isn’t strict on the other people in the mission but is protective and cares for them. He brings out the sarcastic side of Pyra. He is funny and smart and has an annoying brother kind of vibe. He tends to flirt a bit on the down low with Pyra but she tends to be pretty oblivious to it. They banter a lot and secretly enjoy each others company. Brynn- loud and bubbly and loves to talk. Used to be a circus performer and is very agile and flexible. Sniper- very calm guy. Covered in many scars and doesn’t talk too much. Pyra is curious about his past. He is known for being a great shot with his sniper which is where he got the nickname that he goes by. Nick- the son of Byron who is nervous and has very little confidence. They don’t know why he is on the mission yet. Pyra wants to support him and be There for him and give him a friend. Kylan- very friendly dad vibe. Loves his daughter very much and is the guy who makes the weapons on their team. Dad jokes. Rob- barely talks at all. He seems like he is kinda dumb or mute and Is basically a giant and is just known for being tough and strong. Mandalin- super high tech and very emotionless and straight to the point. All about the facts and isn’t very friendly because she is very serious. Known for her technology specialty. Pyra calls her Mandy despite Mandy not being fond of that nickname. Start the story right before the time of the first meeting where they decide to create the team to go on this mission
